If you are looking for a work truck, you have a lot of different things to consider. You are going to want a truck that gives you all you need but doesn't give you more than you will ever need. The truck should be right for the jobs you need it to do for you, and not have a lot of unnecessary features that are just going to needlessly cost you more money. Here are some of the questions you can ask of yourself in order to figure out what it is you really need in a work truck.

Do you need an extended cab or crew cab?

In order to determine the right type of cab the work truck you buy should have, you need to consider your needs. Will there be any times when you are going to need to have more than one or possibly two other people in the truck with you? If so, then an extended cab may work for you if you may have them in the truck with you for short trips. However, if you will have people traveling with you often, or if you may travel long distances when you do have them with you, then you should think about a crew cab. This will offer full-sized back seats and extra doors, things that can be important when you have people with you often, especially on those long trips.

Do you need a long bed truck?

If you have a lot of work equipment to carry with you, then you are going to want to get a long bed work truck. This is going to be your best assurance that you are going to have the space you need when you are going to your different job sites. If you get a short bed truck and find you need more space, you can be in quite a predicament. However, if you have a long bed, then even if you aren't always filling the bed all the way, at least you know it is available for the times when you do need it.

Do you need a new truck?

If you are in the position of driving a great looking truck so you can present yourself to customers in a certain light, then a new truck will be best. However, if you are going to mess the truck up on job sites and by taking it to areas where the paint job isn't going to last very long at all, then you may as well save yourself some money and go with a nice used truck.
